This is the makeup look I chose to wear on Valentines day, Bea came over in the morning to take some snaps of me getting ready so I could put together a step-by-step for you guys.
You could make this look a lot more eye-catching by adding a lovely bright lip, but I decided to stick with a nude lipstick for a few reasons. I was going to be spending most of the day out so i didn't really want to worry about constantly topping up on lippy; also as it was Valentines day, which means lots of kissing, so i didn't want it to smudge. There is nothing worse than having than having a good ole smooch and ending up with a massive red smudge across both yours and your partner's face.
I'll talk you through step-by-step how I created this look and what products I used.
1// Firstly for my foundation, I used a Real Techniques expert face brush to apply Rimmel's match perfection foundation (one of my all time favourites).
2// I used the Real Techniques contour brush to apply my concealer because I find it's a good size to blend it in really nicely. I applied the Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer under my eyes, edges of my nose, on any blemishes and blended well.
3// Next is bronzer and again I use a bit of a strange brush to apply it, but it works well for me. I used the Real Techniques buffing brush and contour it in the hollows of my cheeks then I dusted a Bare Minerals bronzer lightly over my forehead.
4// I then sealed all of that with a matte powder, this time i used Mac's studio fix powder and applied it all over my face with the Real techniques blush brush, ensuring there's no shine.
5// The final step for my face is blusher, I love having a bit of colour in my cheeks. I used the Real techniques stippling brush to apply Boujouis cream blush in healthy glow onto the apple of my cheeks.
6// Time for the brows, I'm not a big fan of the drawn on look, so I use a eyeshadow to fill mine in. I used (yet another Real techniques brush) the brow brush to apply The Body Shop's eyeshadow in shade 08.
7// Now for the fun part, the eyes. I used two colours both from Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette, firstly I applied half baked all over the lid and under my eye and then using snakebite, I applied it in the crease of my lid blending it to the outer corners. For all of this I used the brush which comes in the palette.
8// I used Primark's felt tip eyeliner from their new makeup range for the first time on this look and I have to say I'm really pleased with it. The nib is really thin so it's so easy to apply. I didn't want to add a big flick to this look because I wanted the eyeshadow to be the main factor, so I just added a simple line going slightly thicker towards the end.
9// One of my favourite parts, mascara, as it just finishes the eyes off so nicely. I used my all time favourite Maybelline's The Falsies on both my top and bottom lashes.
10// The final part, the pièce de résistance, the lips. Like I said above, I chose a nude lipstick. I do usually like a bright coral or red but I just didn't think it was suitable for the occasion. I used one of my favourite nudes- Topshop's nevada. It has a lovely creamy consistency, not too shiny and not too matte.
I hope you liked this date night look, it is a versatile look, so like myself you could wear it with a nude lip in the daytime or add a gorgeous red if you were going out in the evening.
Let me know if you try it out, or if you have any beauty product recommendations that I'm missing out on.
